Over an open fire, Scott Carlisle found his love for cooking on a rusty, old BBQ pit. Making people happy with the food he creates is why he strives to become a better cook every day. Food sport and BBQ comps are his way to scratch his competitive itch. His aspirations may have you delightfully devouring one of his homemade dishes in the near future.
Scott comes from a large family of phenomenal cooks that are his inspiration to become a great chef. When he's not on the BBQ trail you can probably find him staying busy working seasonally on a sod farm in East Central Minnesota. In the winter months, when he is not farming, you'll find him honing his culinary skills. Gardening, raising chickens and foraging for mushrooms and other natural ingredients are passions that fuel the creativity in the meals he makes.
For a few years, in the late 2010's, Scott dabbled in smaller local BBQ comps. This lead him to starting the Lucky Shoes BBQ team and they have become a force to be reckoned with on the MN KCBS Backyard BBQ circuit. This year, in the 2023 season, Lucky Shoes BBQ will make the jump to the KCBS Masters division. There they will compete against some of the biggest and best teams in BBQ.
Scott also aspires to own and operate a food truck and catering company in the future. This vision includes spotlighting local food companies, like Croix Valley, that produce delicious, natural ingredients to take the flavor in his dishes to a new, higher level. Scott hopes to one day put a huge smile on your face with one of his culinary creations.
